Power in Pink 5K Run & Walk -- What You Need To Know

The Power in Pink 5K and 1 Mile Run and Walk 2022 celebrates 10 years this October.  The annual fundraising event, held during breast cancer awareness month, began because four women fighting breast cancer in Cedar City wanted to create a way to honor survivors and raise funds for their fellow Iron County “pink sisters” and their families. While most of those founders lost their battle to cancer they left a legacy by building a nonprofit that is still helping local breast cancer “pink warriors.” Robyn Brown, founding member, remains a member of the board and champion for the cause. She along with a board of other breast cancer survivors and supporters is excited to usher in the 10th year of the annual breast cancer walk and run. The event continues to stay true to its mission to keep funds local.  Here are a few facts about the annual event that brings the community together to embrace the pink warrior and remember and honor those who are or have battled this disease.

  • Is it a race? This a fun run, not a timed race. There is a 5K route and a 1 mile route. Although, we do give out a fun award for the first one back from the 5K.
  • Where is it? The 10th annual run and walk will take place in West Canyon Park in Cedar City — traditional location for the breast cancer support event.
  • When is It? The event will be at 8:30 a.m. on October 22.

  • Event activities – Registration starts 30 minutes before walk and run, a special guest speaker and entertainer kicks off the event, vendors and local resource organizations are available to provide more information on breast cancer support during the event, run and walk takes place and then following the event, team and individual  participation prizes awarded.
  • What are the prizes? Breast cancer is a serious disease but we believe there is a time to celebrate and laugh and be silly together. We give prizes for things like Best Pink Posse, or Youngest Pink Walker, Most Pinked Out and more.
