On Saturday, October 21, join with other members from Cedar City and Iron County to support local women dealing with breast cancer. This is the 11th year of the Power in Pink-Iron County Walk and 5K which will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Cedar City West Canyon Park, 151 S 400 E.
Early bird registration is $25 until October 1, with registration thereafter at $35. Registration and information are available at powerinpink-ironcounty.com where you can also make tax deductible donations if you are unable to participate the day of the event. Registration on the day of the event begins at 8 a.m. All participants will receive an event shirt, swag bag, and event medal. Prizes will be awarded to the community and SUU team with the most participants.
Started in 2013 by four young breast cancer survivors, this annual event helps meet the needs of local women rather than sending proceeds to national organizations. “We are so pleased that for 11 years now we have been able to raise funds from this event and provide assistance to ladies in our area that need help getting through the challenges of cancer treatment,” said Robyn Brown, one of the organization’s founders. “We find this an important time to recognize and cheer survivors and remember those who have lost their lives to this horrible disease.”
Cedar City Councilman R. Scott Phillips will be the Master of Ceremonies. DMK Entertainment will be providing the music. During the walk, names and photos of women who have dealt with breast cancer line the trail. The Pink team invites all who have someone they would like to honor and remember to send names and photos of loved ones to [email protected].
Ernie’s Stores is again the generous lead sponsor for this year’s event. Additional sponsors confirmed at the time of release include: Cedar City Rotary Club, Jennie Hendricks-CENTURY 21 Prestige Realty, SUU, Lovene and Donn Jersey, the Freier Family, Smith’s, Women’s Health and Midwifery, and the employees of the Iron County School District.
